Meningitis Awareness

In light of the very sad news that there has recently been a meningitis outbreak in Kent, and that students linked to the Faversham and Canterbury area have tragically died. From our community we send thoughts at this time to all involved. Currently there are no confirmed cases or links to our school but it is important we are aware.

If you are concerned about your child or notice these symptoms, please seek medical advice urgently by contacting NHS 111, your GP, or in an emergency dial 999.

Symptoms of meningitis can develop suddenly and may include:

· A high temperature (fever)

· Being sick (vomiting)

· A severe headache

· A rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it (although a rash does not always appear)

· A stiff neck

· Sensitivity to bright lights

· Drowsiness, confusion or difficulty responding

· Seizures (fits)

We recognise that news like this can understandably cause concern. If you have anything you would like to discuss, please do contact the main office and we can support you.
